“The politicians in Kyrgyzstan misunderstood the definition “multiple-vector policy” for many years,” Alibek Dzhekshenkulov, the former Minister of Internal Affairs, stated at the round table conference today.
According to him, they cringed before one and all - the Kremlin, Washington, and Beijing. “Hence there are deplorable results of foreign policy. I was always for single-vector policy. Many countries that adhere to such tendency are developing successfully. For example, the same Israel always regards the USA and the UK. But it does not mean that it does not cooperate with other countries. We should also determine upon the main foreign partners. Numerous polls of the citizens as well as trends in migration flows indicate that such partners should be Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan,” the former official said.
He noted that the norms on the vectors of foreign policy activity should not be detailed in the constitutional law. “They will not work any way. Time is changing rapidly and tomorrow there could be easily a situation when the new President of the country wants to change the Basic Law. It would be true to work out appropriate concept and to detail all these points there,” added Alikbek Zhekshenkulov.
