In Kyrgyzstan, courts pass judgments going by political motives – Dinara Oshurakhunova

“In Kyrgyzstan, courts pass judgments going by political motives,” the head of the Coalition for Democracy and Civil Society, Dinara Oshurakhunova, told a news conference today.

According her, in autumn the republic will hold elections to local councils therefore it is necessary to pay heed to election disputes and passing judgments. “Outrages were revealed in elections in Osh, Balykchi, Karakol and Tokmak and in a number of village councils. The Coalition went to the law against all facts. But courts passed various judgments in the same cases. We concluded that courts follow political point when considering disputable issues,” Dinara Oshurakhunova explained.

The lawyer Erik Iriskulbekov noted that lawsuits were filed within terms determined by the law. But courts rejected claims arguing that deadline expired. “Then they admitted that we didn’t default terms but some time later they were back again to the previous reason of nonacceptance of claims. We disputed their decisions in the Supreme Court. The most surprising thing is that the presiding judge was the same in all these proceedings,” he added.
