Only 17.65 percent of graduates occupy Kyrgyzstan’s labor market

“Only 17.65 percent of graduates occupy Kyrgyzstan’s labor market,” Uktomkhan Abdullayeva, auditor of the Kyrgyz Accounts Chamber, stated at today’s session of the Parliament’s Committee on Education, Science, Culture and Sports.

According to her, herewith 59 percent of high school graduates and 14.62 percent of vocational training institutions’ graduates occupy the labour market of Kyrgyzstan.

She noted that salary of college graduates is on average lower than of vocational training institutions’ graduates. “Only 30 percent of graduates become employed, which amounts to 11 thousand people. According to the Youth Labour Exchange, 90 percent of applications received from employers are for such specialties as drivers, waiters, cooks, hairdressers, secretaries,” Uktomkhan Abdullayeva added.
