Who deserves to be thrown a shoe in Kyrgyzstan?
05/02-2009 10:28, Bishkek – News Agency “24.kg”, By Artem PETROV
Once the Iraqi journalist made himself famous all over the world throwing a shoe at American president. He did not even suspect to have any followers. The next after George Bush victim of a shoe –thrower was Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao…
The news agency “24.kg” turned to the well-known Kyrgyz people with the question: Who deserves to be thrown a shoe in Kyrgyzstan?
Topchubek Turgunaliev, director of Freedom and Human rights Institute:
I do not approve such methods of expression of one’s opinion. I remember Hrushev, who struck with taken off shoe on the tribune while speaking at U.N.O. What is the good of that? It is the real stupidity. Even enemies should have respect for each other.
Toktogul Kakchekeev, political scientist:
What a question you asked me! I do not want to mention any name. It is tactless. But there are enough candidates everywhere: in parliament, in government and in president’s administration.
Aziza Abdirasulova, leader of Kylym shamy Human Rights Centre:
Every public authority, especially law machinery and judicial system officers. And the last should be thrown the old shoes, I grudge new for them.
Ilim Karypbekov, ex –mass media spokesman in Kyrgyzstan:
I would advise to use another means for expression of somebody’s opinion. They are enough in our country.
Galina Skripkina, well- known attorney:
Make a line out of all our government members and throw at everyone. It does not matter, they do nothing. There were all kinds of crisis in Kyrgyzstan for the last four years: economical, energy and financial. Not one or two persons are responsible for it but the whole like-minded team. It should be thrown at.
Nurlan Motuev, co-chairman of Kyrgyz Muslim Society:
I think that a shoe should be thrown at Omurbek Tekebaev and Alikbek Jekshenkulov. They are populists, especially Tekebaev. He should better to occupy himself with his spokesman’s work but he insults the president.
Mukar Cholponbaev, ex-spokesman of the parliament:
There is only one person in Kyrgyzstan who deserves to be thrown a shoe. It is president while he does not keep given to people promises.
Nurlan Brimkulov, chief pulmonologist of Kyrgyz Health Ministry:
There are some candidates in the republic who deserve such a treatment e.g. the officials responsible for electricity.
