Are you ready for plastic surgery?

07/07-2009 15:08, Bishkek – News Agency “24.kg”, By Aizada TOIGONBAEVA

We are often unhappy with our looks. Sometimes a defect gets into your road so bad that it becomes unbearable to live with a sticking out ears, long nose and thin lips. Usually people drag their hangups from their childhood and carry it through all their lives, some forget their hurts with the time. But some decide to turn to plastic surgeons.

Specialists say that in most of the cases the problem is way too exaggerated and made of nothing.  Nonetheless people often dare for plastic surgeries in search for internal harmony. Today 24.kg asks known Kyrgyz doers about their flaws and if they want to change them.

Saltanat Samatova, radio DJ:

Honestly speaking there is nothing I like about myself. I have never considered myself a beauty. I remember when I was 18, me and my sister bumped into a plastic surgeon – Ivan Ivanovich, who said he could not help my Roman nose. He said that I was young and consequently beautiful. Thanks to him! Sometimes I see myself as a big-eyed, well-shaped movie star. But the reality is different and it is ok with me. I am alive and healthy – that is the most important, I think!

Sabyr Jumabekov, director of the Bishkek Orthopedics and Trauma Research Center:

When young I was very embarrassed of my short height (165cm) but became more confidents after I helped hundreds of people to become taller and get closer to their dreams. Now I can say I got rid of intrusive thoughts.

Rosa Otunbaeva, Member of Kyrgyz Parliament:

What? Why do you ask me about my looks? Call me when you have other questions, such as presidential election for example!

Bakyt, athlete:

My nose! I want to return it to its normal shape. I had a facial trauma several months ago but still can not muster courage for a surgery. I have little free time and often hear about sudden consequences of the surgery. But I would love to get my nose back to its former shape.

Ernst Akramov, professor of medicine, Member of Kyrgyz Parliament:

Being a surgeon I should note possible danger of such operations. We never know what may happen. We should remember about lethal cases in plastic surgery that is why before taking a final decision one should consider all pros and cons.

To my mind, attempts to look the best are akin to foolishness and opulence.

Jyldyz Arzybekova, a lawyer:

Why not to make plastic surgery for some serious reason? But it is not a cheap pleasure, though. Health and appearance should be trusted only to real experts. I have thought of that and would definitely use my chance to make a surgery if given one. I would start with liposuction and get rid of couple kilos on my waist. I would also like to change my eyes’ shape a little bit. But unfortunately I don’t think local doctors are experienced enough in this sphere.

Topchubek Turgunaliev, member of Joint People’s Movement:

I think I am flawless, people like my looks and I live in harmony with myself. I am sure that mother-nature has cared about our looks and we should not change it a bit. One friend of mine has changed his hair color after visiting the United States of America. I don’t know if he was influenced by free American culture so much or what. However some time later he dyed his hair back to his normal color.

Dinara Abdykadyrova, actress of the Bishkek city drama theater:

I love and respect myself. I feel comfortable with my body and would not change anything. But we are just human and sometimes hate our reflection in the mirror.  My job hints me to constantly stay in good shape that is why I exercise a lot. However, I gain one extra kilo or two every once in a while. But I will never go through liposuction or plastic surgery in my life.
