Health care institutions will carry out a month's campaign devoted to mental health from October 10 to November 10. Press center of the Ministry of Health Care reported.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), approximately 450 million people worldwide suffer from health problems, which is mental and psychosocial in nature. "The burden of mental disorders, imposed on society is large, and suicidal behavior is one of the most serious social problems. According to WHO, each year about 400,000-500,000 people commit suicide, and the number of attempts - ten times more. This problem is acute in all countries, including Kyrgyzstan," the Ministry of Health Care noted.
"There has been observed unfavorable social and economic background in the country that predispose to suicides with a high risk of damage to health. Therewith, there is no program to prevent suicides, no state policy on the prevention of the consequences of suicides, non-governmental sector is not involved in solving the problems associated with suicides," the ministry added.
The Day of Mental Health is marked at the initiative of the World Federation for Mental Health on October 10 since 1992.
