No electricity blackouts in Kyrgyzstan since November 1, 2008

“Kyrgyz government will stop practicing electricity blackouts since November 2008,” Saparbek Balkibekov the Minister of Industry, Energy and Fuel Resources told the news agency “24.kg”.

“The winter heating season starts since November 1 and there should be no breaks in power supply,” Balkibekov said.

Reporting in front of the ministers’ cabinet Balkibekov said that October 1-12 Kyrgyzstan managed to hold a planned electricity safety mode for the first time in 2008 and saved over 30 percent of power energy.

Balkibekov said that if by the spring 2009 the Toktogul water reservoir is not filled with water up to the needed level blackouts will start again.
