Creation of a favourable investment climate, infrastructure and transparent licensing procedures is very important for us to invest in Kyrgyzstan - Yuko Yasunaga

07/05-2012 07:15, Bishkek – 24.kg news agency , by Irina DUDKA

“Creation of a favourable investment climate, infrastructure and transparent licensing procedures is very important for us to invest in Kyrgyzstan,” Yuko Yasunaga, head of the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy of Japan, stated at the meeting with the Kyrgyz Ministry of Economy and Antitrust Policy representatives.

According to him, despite the absence of mineral resources Japan has mining technologies with which they are willing to share with Kyrgyzstan. “We prefer the form of collaboration that will benefit the host side, Yuko Yasunaga said. - Introducing the Japanese technology in the field of mineral resources, we can achieve the development of mining industry in Kyrgyzstan and creation of new jobs”.

He stressed that only several world countries have rare-earth metals reserves. If Kyrgyzstan is able to produce them, it will be an achievement not only for investors and manufacturers from Japan, but for the entire world.

“Mountainous areas of Osh and Batken provinces are rich in mineral resources, and we are interested in the state of transport infrastructure, water and electricity supply of these promising areas,” Yuko Yasunaga added. He also noted that copious information will allow the delegation members to persuade Japanese companies to make business in the Kyrgyz Republic.

The head of Natural Resources Department under the Ministry of Economy and Antitrust Policy Almaz Alimbayev assured that licensing procedure was open and transparent and it ran through tenders and auctions. “We tried to create comfortable conditions for investment and its protection,” he said.
