RusHydro may apply to international arbitration against Kyrgyzstan because of Uppernaryn HPP cascade. This was reported by the Russian media, citing the head of company Nikolay Shulginov.
"We are working on this subject at all levels, through the Ministry of Energy and other channels. If we fail to return the funds, we will sue, involving international arbitration. That is to sue Kyrgyzstan," Nikolay Shulginov said.
We are talking about compensation for $35-36 million already spent on the project.
In January Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev signed a law of denunciation of agreements with Russia on joint construction of Uppernaryn HPP cascade and Kambar-Ata-1 HPP."
Kyrgyzstan regularly being sued in international arbitration courts. Proceedings of recent years have been in favor of the KR.
