Kazakhstan lifted the ban on the import of Kyrgyz potatoes. The Government's Executive Office informed 24.kg news agency.
According to it, the agreement was achieved during the visit of the President of Kyrgyzstan to Astana to participate in the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council. The order to lift the ban was personally made by the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev.
In order the potatoes can be exported to Kazakhstan again, the Kyrgyz Republic has committed itself to organize the work of laboratories for the delivery of only quality products to the neighboring country. The Ministry of Agriculture and the State Inspectorate for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Safety will be responsible for it.
In early May, Kazakhstan has imposed ban on the imports of Kyrgyz potatoes. The neighbors explained the decision by the fact that the potatoes from Kyrgyzstan are infected with golden nematode, which is dangerous not only for humans, but can also infect the soil when planting the infected tubers.
