State Committee on National Security detained youth movement leader for two months

The leader of the “Kanjar” (Dagger) youth movement Adilet Aitikeev will be held in the State Committee on National Security for two months, his lawyer Sartbai Jaichikeev told News Agency “24.kg”.   

The lawyer explained that such long presence of suspect under arrest is reasoned by the duration of the investigation. The General Prosecutor Office issued arrest warrant. 

Aitikeev is filed charge on article 233 “Mass disorders” of the criminal code.

However, his lawyer does not agree with the charge.

“How a young person, who is the freshman student, in his early 20s, can be an organizer of mass disorders? Aitikeev was among rally participants, but he is not organizer, by the way many of those organizers were not even questioned,” the lawyer said.  

Jaichbekov said that his client was not invited to the questioning by notice paper, as it is provided in the legislation, but he was forcedly brought to the state committee and put under arrest.

“I can say that they are applying repressive methods,” he said.

In conclusion, he added that he is going write solicitation application to change arrest of Aitikeev into written undertaking not to leave the place.
