Bishkek-Naryn-Torugart road reconstruction to run trough 2014

Reconstruction of several parts (75 km) of the Bishkek-Naryn-Torugart road will be completed by 2014, Kubanychbek Mamaev state-secretary of the Kyrgyz Transport and Communication Ministry told the news agency 24.kg.

Asian Development Bank allocates $50 million for the purpose. “At least $22 million is allotted as grant and the rest $28 million – in form of loan, which Kyrgyzstan has to pay off in 32 years. Moreover, seven years of the term is concession period with 1 percent interest rate,” the secretary said.

If the reconstruction agreement is ratified by the Kyrgyz government and the ADB, works will start in 2010.
